We would like to thank all the people that made this year's conference a success. The officers of the organization worked hard to make the conference happen, but the success is a result of all the presenters, exhibitors and participants.
The 2010 Conference will be November 3-5. There was a question at the meeting about having it from Thursday through Saturday. This coming year that can not be done because of previous bookings. We will poll the members in the near future about subsequent years to see if this would be more beneficial to the members.
Evolution Survey for Science Teachers
I know you are all busy, but if you will give me just 15 minutes of your time, you can do a lot to help improve science education in SC and also get a chance to win $500 for your classroom and school!
I am inviting all SC middle and high school science teachers to participate in an important survey Clemson University is conducting. The survey is designed to collect data both on teachers' attitudes toward evolution as well as the challenges they face teaching this material. The data from this research will be used to develop methods to better support K-12 teachers in meeting these challenges.
Your participation should take only about 15-20 minutes. Those who complete the survey will be given an opportunity at the end to enter their school email address, which will be used in two drawings: one for $250 in supplies for your own classroom and another for $250 in science supplies for your school. If you choose to provide it, your email will be used only for the specified purpose and will not be shared with anyone not involved in the study.
It is important that we get a good response rate from a wide array of teachers, so please take a moment from your busy schedule to take the survey. Encourage other teachers in your school to participate, since the more entries from your school, the greater the chances of your science department winning the school drawing. If you know of other middle or high school science teachers in South Carolina who might like to participate, especially those at private schools, please forward this link to them.
To take the survey, simply click on the link below (or cut and paste it into your browser). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
